Florida Elder Law, Estate Planning and Real Estate Attorney - for peace of mind

BeckyWelcome to the web site of elder law and real estate attorney Rebecca M. Becker in Ormond Beach, Florida. My office is dedicated to providing “preventive maintenance” for you and your family’s legal affairs. We can’t always control what happens to ourselves and our loved ones, but we can minimize the stress, expense, and delays that result. Most people are unaware of the difficulties and complications that can arise – and that simple planning can address those issues. The term “elder law” is misleading, as every adult should have a set of basic legal documents. In our "elder law" office, we look at the short and long-term to provide the best over-all plan to be sure you and your family are protected, from 18 to 100.

We all know how important maintenance is for our homes, cars, appliances, and especially our bodies (the most important machine we own!). Our goal is to provide preventive maintenance for managing and protecting your family, your assets, your businesses, your real estate, and your estate. Without properly designating trusted family or friends to act on your behalf, court proceedings may become necessary. We work very hard to see that your loved ones – or you - don’t have to go through the courts to achieve your goals.

We offer planning to address:

  1. health care issues - be sure your wishes are known, avoid guardianship
  2. asset protection & transfers - conserve assets, avoid probate
  3. business formation and dissolution planning - resolve disputes before they arise, avoid litigation
  4. real estate transactions - avoid unexpected results or failed deals
  5. planning for the care of minor children or disabled persons - preserve eligibility for government benefits
  6. marriage, remarriage, unmarried partner issues

You can avoid the emotional and financial costs of guardianship and probate, real estate deals "gone bad," business disputes, and worries about nursing home costs. Health, business or financial crises can sap your energies, destroy your peace of mind, and ruin what you've worked a lifetime to build.

In “Patriot Games,” author Tom Clancy explained an ace pilot’s success: "His body never went anywhere his mind had not been before.” This is also true of good legal planning; prepare for the unexpected or unpredictable.  Don't think your estate is not large enough to benefit from planning. It's even more important to conserve smaller estates and businesses for the people you love. By taking control of your own future, you can preserve as much of your wealth as possible. And even more importantly, you can give health care directives so there won’t be any doubt as to your wishes.

Our focus is to help you make informed choices and to be sure the effect is correct. I will help you prepare and explain the appropriate estate planning documents, discuss your alternatives, and then follow up to be sure that your estate plan is implemented correctly. We serve clients in Flagler and Volusia County in Florida, including Daytona Beach, Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, De Land, Deltona, Pierson, Palm Coast and Flagler Beach.

Call us to review your current documents or to put an estate plan to work for you. And to give you peace of mind.

We look forward to an opportunity to work with you.
