Florida Elder Law Attorney

Everybody needs an elder law attorney because life has become more complicated. In these times of life-prolonging medical techniques, Alzheimer's and progressive dementia, organ transplants, government benefits (and all the regulations that go with them), rigid banking and money management policies, multiple marriages, blended and scattered families, soaring nursing home occupancy, adult children overloaded with their own work and families, grandparents raising grandchildren, life partners without marriage and legal rights, etc., you need an attorney who will explain your options and answer the questions you don't even know to ask!

What make an elder law attorney different is that we look at long-term and big picture, to try to avoid the problems that might arise down the road. We want to minimize those problems. We can’t control what happens to us, but we can control how prepared we are.

Many elderly people fear their life savings will disappear as it becomes necessary for them or their spouses to enter nursing homes due to deteriorating health conditions. But with proper planning, families can care for their loved ones while preserving assets for their surviving spouses, children, and heirs. This is called Medicaid planning, because it helps conserve individual assets while making sure people are eligible for Medicaid to pay nursing home costs when they need it.

There are a number of things you can do to allow you to care for your spouse without losing the joint assets you have. Many people don't realize that certain assets are exempt from nursing home care. We can't always control what happens to us or our loved ones, but we can be as prepared as possible through legal preventative maintenance.
